Biography

Johnnie Carson
Ambassador to Republic of Kenya

Johnnie Carson, a minister-counselor in the Senior Foreign Service, is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya.

A former U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe and Uganda, Ambassador Carson most recently served as principal deputy assistant secretary for African Affairs. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1969, he has served in Lagos, Lisbon, and Washington, DC, and as deputy chief of mission in Maputo and Gaborone.

Before joining the Foreign Service, Ambassador Carson was a Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania.
