Biography

Barbro A. Owens-Kirkpatrick of California, a counselor in the Senior Foreign Service, is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Niger.

Since joining the Foreign Service in 1980, she has served in Mexico City and Washington, DC. She was Deputy Chief of Mission in Bridgetown, Director of Inter-American Affairs at the National Security Council, and most recently served as director of the Office of European Political and Security Affairs.
