Biography

Kathryn Dee Robinson
Ambassador to Republic of Ghana

Kathryn Dee Robinson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 21, 1998 and presented her credentials as Ambassador to Ghana on December 16.

Ambassador Robinson is a career diplomat and a member of the Senior Foreign Service, at the rank of Minister-Counselor. She began her diplomatic career in 1975 with an assignment in India and served subsequently in China, Indonesia, and most recently in Korea. She has also held management and policy assignments in Washington.

Ambassador Robinson was selected for a Congressional Fellowship in 1983 and worked for a year on foreign policy and international trade issues as a member of the staff of (then) U.S. Representative Al Gore. A native of Tennessee, Ambassador Robinson graduated with honors in History from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She worked briefly as an editor on her hometown newspaper and in other family business enterprises before her appointment to the U.S. Foreign Service.

Ambassador Robinson speaks Chinese, Indonesian, and French.
