Release of Political Prisoners in Nigeria

We welcome the Government of Nigeria’s announcement yesterday of the imminent release of all military officers and civilians imprisoned for alleged participation in 1995 and 1997 coup plots. We view this decision as another important and positive step in the transition to democratic civilian government and the return of the rule of law.
