Notice to the Press

NATO Accession Ceremony--Advisory #2 Following is additional information for media organizations planning to cover the NATO Accession Ceremony at the Truman Presidential Library in Independence, Missouri, on March 12, 1999. Copies of Advisory #1, which contains information on press credentials, filing facility, telephone line orders, and notification of intent to attend, may be obtained through the State Department web site (www.state.gov) or through fax on demand by dialing from the handset on your fax machine (202) 736-7720 and entering document i.d. number 803.
ARRIVAL Secretary Albright’s aircraft, which will also carry the Czech, Hungarian and Polish Foreign Ministers, will arrive at the Kansas City, Missouri Downtown Airport at 10:30 a.m.. Her arrival is OPEN PRESS coverage. Media wishing to cover the arrival may begin setting up at the airport at 9:00 a.m. and should be set up not later than 10:00 a.m.
FOOD The Press Filing Center and Truman Presidential Library are not located near food services, but food can be ordered from local delivery services. Additionally, a well-known local company, Gates Barbecue, is willing to take phone orders with a credit card and deliver food to the filing center by 11:00 am Friday, March 12. Press must call their orders in on Thursday, March 11 by 5:00 p.m. The telephone number for Gates is (816) 923-0901; please ask for Arzelia Gates.
TRANSPORTATION Press must provide their own transportation between the airport, hotels, and Truman Presidential Library for the event.
INTERNATIONAL CAMERA POOL The U.S. Information Agency (USIA) will provide a camera and distribution point as international pool at the ceremony in Independence. International press interested in access to this feed should contact Cynthia Thompson at the Foreign Press Center (202) 724-2679.
