First Meeting of the
Overseas Presence Advisory PanelThe Overseas Presence Advisory Panel had its first meeting at the State Department today. The Panel was established to make recommendations on how the State Department and the agencies supported through our overseas posts do their work.
The group was addressed by Secretary Albright, and received briefings from senior Department officials including the Under Secretaries for Political Affairs, Management and Economic Affairs.
The Panel will visit several overseas posts as part of its work in March and April. Initial recommendations will be completed in June 1999.
Lewis B. Kaden of New York chairs the Panel. Ambassador William Itoh, a career member of the Foreign Service, is the Executive Secretary. Admiral William Crowe has agreed to serve on the Panel to ensure continuity with the Accountability Review Boards he chaired. The following people have agreed to serve as members of the OPAP:
