NATO Accession Ceremony - Advisory #3

Parking

Parking space for the press will be available in the lot adjacent to the filing center, established in the gymnasium on the University of Missouri at Kansas City Truman Campus, near the northwest corner of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library. No vehicle identification is required.

Local Events for the Press

Truman Library Press Tours: The Truman Library has scheduled press tours to allow media representatives to take b-roll footage and still photos. The two tours arranged for Thursday, March 11, are at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Media representatives who wish to participate should report to the Truman Library main entrance at 9:15 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.

Truman Library Press Conference: Library Director Larry Hackman and Truman Archivist Ray Geselbracht will meet with the press on Thursday, March 11, at 3:30 p.m. in the Library’s Whistlestop Room to discuss the historical perspective of the March 12 NATO accession ceremony. Following opening remarks, they will respond to questions about President Truman’s and Dean Acheson’s roles in NATO’s and the Library’s preparations for Friday’s event. (They will not be able to address Secretary Albright’s participation or State Department preparations for the March 12 ceremony.) Reporters who wish to attend should arrive through the Truman Library’s east entrance and be in the Whistlestop Room at 3:15 p.m.

National Frontier Trails Center Reception for the Press: The National Frontier Trails Center, a museum devoted to the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails, will host a reception on Thursday, March 11, for media covering the NATO accession ceremony. The reception will take place at the Center, 318 W. Pacific, Independence, Missouri, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
