Notice to the Press

Background Briefings During the U.S.-Africa Ministerial:
Partnership for the 21st Century
March 16-18, 1999

A senior State Department official will conduct a series of BACKGROUND briefings for the press throughout the upcoming conference. These backgrounders will take place in the Press Briefing Room (Room 2118) and are scheduled for:

Tuesday, March 16, at 5:45 p.m.,
Wednesday, March 17, at 5:45 p.m., and
Thursday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m.

The briefer will lead background read-outs of the Ministerial’s daily events for journalists, and will be accompanied by other U.S. Government and African officials involved in that day’s workshops and sessions. All participants will be prepared to respond to press questions.
