Washington Passport Agency To Provide
Only Emergency Service on April 23

Due to NATO Summit events, the Washington Passport Agency, with its limited staff, will only be able to provide emergency service on Friday, April 23. The Passport Agency will resume normal operations at its regular 8:00 a.m. time on Monday, April 26 to serve its customers with scheduled appointments. The Washington Passport Agency is located at 1111 19th Street, N.W.

A number of passport acceptance facilities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area are open to accept passport applications on April 23. Those locations can accept applications but do not issue passports. Customers wishing to find the acceptance facility nearest them to apply for a passport may do so by checking the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ Internet site at http://travel.state.gov, consulting the government blue pages in their telephone directory or calling the National Passport Information Center at 1-900-225-5674 or 1-888-362-8668 (with a credit card). General information and status of pending passport applications can also be obtained by calling these numbers.

U.S. citizens with a life-or-death emergency requiring issuance of a passport on April 23, should contact the National Passport Information Center for assistance at the above number. To schedule an appointment at the Washington Agency during its normal business hours, customers should call 202-647-0518.
