U.S. Hosts Joint Political-Military Discussions With Israel On Monday, May 3, the United States hosted the 29th meeting of the U.S.-Israel Joint Political Military Group, or JPMG, in Washington.
The U.S. delegation was led by Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs, Eric D. Newsom. The Israeli delegation was headed by MG (Retired) Ilan Biran, Director-General, Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Topics on the agenda included exchanges on strategic and regional matters and activities aimed at dealing with defense issues of mutual concern. The two delegations emphasized the importance of their determination to promote peace, security and stability in the Middle East and other regions of mutual interest. Both delegation heads expressed their satisfaction with the exchanges, and agreed to hold the 30th JPMG in Israel later this year.
