U.S. Baltic Partnership Commission Meeting

The second annual meeting of the U.S.-Baltic Partnership Commission, established under the Charter of Partnership among the Republics of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the United States of America on January 16, 1998, will meet in Washington, D.C. on July 16, 1999. Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott will host on behalf of the United States Government. The first meeting of the Partnership Commission was held in Riga, Latvia, July 8, 1998.

The Partnership Commission will bring together Foreign Minister Algirdas Saudargas of Lithuania, Foreign Minister Valdis Birkavs of Latvia, Foreign Minister Toomas Hendrik Ilves of Estonia and Deputy Secretary Talbott. They will address issues of mutual concern, assess the status of the Charter of Partnership, and discuss specific ways the four countries can jointly advance the goals of greater regional integration, stability, and prosperity.
