Briefing on U.S. Goals at the 56th Session of the
United Nations Commission on Human Rights

On Monday, March 20, at 10:15 am, Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Harold Hongju Koh will brief the press ON THE RECORD/ON CAMERA on the United States' goals and expectations for the 56th Session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, which is scheduled to take place in Geneva from March 20 to April 28, 2000. The briefing will take place in the State Department press briefing room (room 2118).

The United Nations Commission on Human Rights is the largest and most important international forum for the discussion and promotion of human rights. Its 53 member states meet every year in Geneva.
