Signing of Polar Bear Protection Accord Between
There will be a signing of the Agreement on the Conservation and Management of the Alaska-Chukotka Polar Bear Population between the United States and the Russian Federation on Monday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. in the Treaty Room of the U.S. Department of State. David B. Sandalow, Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, will sign on behalf of the United States. Ambassador to the United States Yuri V. Ushakov will sign on behalf of the Russian Federation.
Media representatives who plan to cover this event should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance to the Department of State at 10:30 a.m. and must present (1) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, (2) a US Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by a photo ID (drivers license or passport). All media attending this event must be escorted to and from the Treaty Room.
