Focus of Trip
Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright departed June 20 for the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea. From June 25 to 27, the Secretary traveled to Poland, where she led the U.S. delegation to the Conference on Community of Democracies* and met with Polish officials.
The Conference, in Warsaw, was held to celebrate the growing trend toward establishing democratic governments around the world. It also examined the critical issue of how this trend might be accelerated and strengthened.
Also included during this trip are stops and meetings in Israel, the Palestinian Autority, and Berlin, Germany.
