Focus of Trip
Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright will travel to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico August 11-12, and Los Angeles, California, August 13-14.
Secretary Albright's visit to New Mexico and California are part of her ongoing effort to discuss foreign policy to the American people. In Albuquerque, Secretary Albright will address the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and the Council for International Visitors to discuss American national security interests and foreign policy goals.
In Santa Fe, Secretary Albright will host Canadian Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy and the Mexican Foreign Secretary Rosario Green at a Trilateral Ministerial Meeting. The meeting will explore ways in which the three interdependent countries can maximize the benefits of their relationships. This is the third Trilateral meeting between the ministers.
On Sunday, August 13, Secretary Albright will deliver an address to the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Los Angeles, California. On Monday, August 14, Secretary Albright will attend an NDI luncheon.
